The
aesthetic
appreciation of forest requires physical involvement, immersion and
struggle. We may think of forest as a view only to be surveyed. This is a
mistake. Forest
is for entering, not for viewing. Forest can hardly be experienced from a
highway rest stop, nor from a television. Seeing a red deer in a zoo is
not an
experience of a wild red deer. The cage blocks the reality. Before
anything,
experiencing forest through the car window diverges from this by the
viewer
being now inside a cage, and the reality being again somewhere else. You
are not really
in touch with forest before you have gone in a good way.

Juni 2012 Artist-in-Residence im Gästeatelier Krone Aarau, und andere
Künstler/innen in Gastateliers der Schweiz stellen Arbeiten vor, die
teilweise während ihres Atelieraufenthaltes entstanden sind. Kuratiert
von Wenzel A. Haller.
